My baby had the same traits listed as Cooper. She also likes to lick everything, particularly the dishes as I am loading the dishwasher. She will "box" with my husband when they are playing. And when she does something she knows is bad, she will crawl to you very low to the ground with those big eyes begging forgiveness!

One more I forgot to mention. The "smile", when she wants your attention she will just stare at you and her front teeth are "biting" her lip. It's the goofiest look I've seen from anyone! It's even funnier when it's just one tooth!

We have a two year old, male named Mo. He does several of the things listed and a few others:

1. The crab walk (bends in half, wiggles, and scuttles across the room when you get home).
2. Lays on his back to get is tummy rubbed.
3. Curls up like a cat to take a nap.
4. Does the boxer woo woo song bur rarely barks.
5. He certainly has gas and drools.
6. He zips around the backyard like crazy - usually after business.
7. He hops (yes hops) like a bunny in tall grass at the dog park.
8. He can leap fences and ravines with great ease.
9. He is a contortionist when he tries to catch a frisbee. All sorts of tucks and turns.
10. And lastly...........he likes to swim........unheard of it seems!

Talking

Our Chyna loves to instigate play by picking up her favorite toy and then she comes over to anyone who will pay attention to her and growl. She sits there and wiggles like crazy while growling trying to get someone to play tug of war with her. She does this all the time. I am not sure if other boxers do the same. Chyna also has all of the traits mentioned by everyone elso. Got to love them.

Smile

I am so much enjoying reading this topic! I have two wonderful Boxer children along with one honorary Boxer our Cocker "Boxer" Spaniel Nikki. Oh, and I can't forget the big sister of the bunch who never gets any rest when the others are up and about, little kitty Missy.

Between the two of them, Raven and Saturn have all the above mentioned traits! One thing that I haven't seen mentioned that both of mine do is that if they are sitting in the recliner or on the couch and we make them move, they do a long stretch and and yawn before they get down. Never fails, every time!

Raven quite frequently sings the woo woo song, mostly for mommy. Saturn does not do it that frequently. But, he is always sleeping on his back with those legs in the air which Raven doesn't do very often. Raven likes to play keep a way with Saturn and when they are outside playing, she will get the ball and do circles as he chases her trying to take it away. Then, when Saturn finally catches it, he will come charging at us like he is coming after us and will stop right in front of us by pouncing into a kidney bean dance. It is so precious!

traits

I have 3 boxers. And have been around lots of others. I have noticed that they all seem to have the same traits, its just that some have some and some have others. I have a male fawn Boe who sleeps on his back with his legs in the air. And Luke and Abbie who both put both paws around your neck and give you hugs. Boe always runs and gets anything he can pick up to bring you when you come home, rather it be a shoe a toy or anything else readily available. Abbie is a bug catcher, and will sit for hours looking at a beam of light that moves on the wall. They are great dogs and so entertaining. I have enjoyed reading all about everyone else's traits. I can just see them all doing these things. You got to love em....

The one thing Fenway(6 y/o male) does I haven't seen mentioned is stare at us while whining and pawing your hand or leg. This is when he thinks more attention is needed. He kind of grips with his toe nails like he thinks he is holding your hand. The GAS is going on right now as he and frazier(9 wk old female) are sound asleep.

I have to say that with all that has been mentioned I have little to add. My Boxer definitely lifts my spirits when needed and I could never imagine him not being around when I get home. The one thing that he has started as of late is he hates my motorcycle helmets. He is seven months old and the helmets have always been around but as of late if there is one where he can see it he will bark and grunt at it till someone moves it away. I have several motorcycle helmets and also other type of helmets but the motorcycle helmets are the only ones that bring about this type of behaviour, regardless of which motorcycle helmet it is.

Talking Doesn't understand chairs!!

I have enjoyed reading all about our boxer's traits! One that Diamond has done ever since he was a little pup...

If there is a chair with arms and he wants to sit in it, he doesn't just hop up, he has to climb and manuver his way through the arm hole struggling the whole time! I tried to teach him how it would be easier, but, nope he didn't like it like that-he likes challenges I guess!! I would just stop what I was doing and just watch him-it was so cute and funny!!

Oh, he is also very jealous-anyone experienced that? No one else lives with us, but when my boyfriend comes over, Diamond doesn't like it that he can't have me all to himself. Diamond will give him a look like, "I should be sitting on the couch by my mom, and YOU should be sitting on the floor!" He goes crazy till I give him lots of attention!

Gotta love em!

Question New Mom

My Luca sleeps on his back, farts, snorts, snores, and everything else you mentioned. The other thing he does is every single day he gets into this barking frenzy which drives me crazy. Is this a trait within their breed?
