I got bit at the dog park yesterday....

No more dog park visits for us. Yesterday was the final straw.

Johann was playing well with the other dogs (only 4 others there). There was a springer spaniel that was very aggresive about not sharing his toys though. Johann kept bugging the dog, so I went to pet him and redirect him to avoid a fight. We were about 4 feet away from the other dog. When I reached down to pet him......the spaniel lunged at us and bit me. Thankfully didn't break the skin, but it did tear my favorite pair of winter gloves.

The best part.......the owner (who watched the whole thing) kept calling me a liar and saying "My dog doesn't bite people". That is until I pulled out my cell phone and called the cops/animal control officer. Amazing how quickly she started to apologize and offer to reimuburse me for the gloves. :lol

Apparantly she has been kicked out of the dog park and banned permanently for the same issue. The joy of small town ACOs.....they remember people. Since the dog didn't break the skin, the ACO said there was not really any legal action I could take. I was fine, at that point I just wanted to leave and never go back.

Johann was pretty funny. The woman tried to intimidate me into not calling the cops....walked towards me aggressively, yelling, etc. Johann (on a leash at this point) stood next to me growling and snarling. Thankfully he listened when I told him to sit and hush. :lol

There are some crazy people in the world....and they all seem to end up at my local dog park.

Crazy people indeed. I won't go back to a dog park either for reasons less than what you just experienced. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt.

You would think that if she were kicked out of the dog park permanently, she could be charged with trespassing or something! So glad you are OK!

I wouldnt even dare think of taking Josie to the dog park we have here, even when she gets old enough. It is in a bad part of town AND I just couldnt imagine the dogs there being well behaved by their owners, much more probably a place where they can roam without their owners paying attention to them while they do "business".....i wish they would put a dog park here in a nicer area....but we will find other places on our own to go!
Glad you are both ok.

If she was kicked out permanently then why was she there? Why bother having rules and regulations if they are not going to be followed?

So happy to hear that you were not injured badly.
Good boy Johann for protecting your mommy from that bad lady . And good boy for listening when your mama said hush . Hope you got some super yummy treats for that.

Hi
Glad your ok and not to badly hurt.
We have just moved from England to Australia with our two Boxers ( Cooper & Kymba) and they have dog parks here which in England we never have the dogs could go off there leashes whenever they wanted to. I was not to sure about these dog parks and after reading the posts on here about them i think i'm going to keep my two out of them.

Glad you and your pup are ok-I avoid dog parks as they seem to be more trouble than they are worth. Your post made me think of "Springer Rage", a problem that has occurred in the breed with aggression. I hope that owner is aware of it, though it sure does not sound like it

So glad you weren't hurt badly. There is a dog park just built near me, would love to take Tyson, but after hearing so many stories here, not sure I'd want to. Every time I go past, no one is there. And for all places to put it, it's behind a funeral home. Kind of made me wonder....
It also doesn't look too impressive for the dogs either.
Just glad you both are ok. My question is, aren't there any "workers" at these dog parks, or are they just as ignorant as some dog owners?

So sorry to hear that you and Johan had such a bad experience but glad to hear that neither of you were hurt. What a brave boy to protect mommy and then, to listen! You must be so proud of your little one!

Wow that was scary!! I'm glad you are OK. Dog parks are not for me either. Had my fill of them. Take care.
