I had volunteered to set up and work at an agility trial, all day on a Friday. Mali had a UTI and I would have had to leave her for about 8 hours, at a time when she needed to go out every hour. I checked with the head honcho and she said I could bring Mali with me, but keep her in the office (there are a few crates there but not open to trial participants). Every hour I would scout a time when there were the fewest dogs about, and get her out to pee and back in the crate. Mali can get snarky toward other dogs and I sure didn't want her barking at any competing dogs.

What was even weirder was that one of the participants had a ewe that gave birth that day and the ewe rejected one of the lambs. The owner brought the teeny lamb (wearing a cute little dog coat) into the same office the next day (Saturday) and was bottle feeding it in between agility runs.

What we won't do for our animals!

Well when I was much younger as say 7 I decided (unkowingly about the whole you dont mess with your dogs food thing) to feed my her from her dish by hand. The look of horror on my dads face when he saw me doing this was quite amazing. He Brought me inside and told me what I was doing could have ended up pretty nasty if it had been another dog Fortunatley it seems that the fact that she was a boxer, young, and recognized me as her owner helped to save my precious hand.

I took two days vacation time after each round of heartworm treatment for Milo. I have laid with them when they are sick until they feel or act better. My husband has slept in the living room so I can sleep in the bed with them. I have traveled 3 hours just to see a vet. I spend well over $300 a month on the three of them, for their food, yogurt, meds, treats, vet visits, groomer and anything else needed that month.

We have not been on vacation in 4 years. The last time was a Christmas that we went away and Sasha and Telmar were left in a home they knew and loved. Sasha refused to eat for 5 days and when we came back you could see her hip bones sticking out and I cried.
I will go to my dad's this week by myself so hubby can take care of them. I refuse to board them and they do not DO WELL out of their home.
I also wake up several times a night to cover them up when it is cold this time of year. We have 3 so it take some time.
Would not have it any other way!
