Anyone else's boxer do this????

Last Friday, Chief and Sam were chasing each other around the living room, when all of a sudden Chief turned quick and Wham!!!! He ran straight into the wall (not even paying a bit of attention). He cracked his head good and put quite a gash in it (nothing serious enough to need medical attention, but enough to need a little TLC). Now this isn't, by any means, the first time this has happened. DH claims that over the summer, Chief and Sam were playing and Chief turned (without paying attention) and slammed head first into the side of the house. He said that Chief almost knocked himself out, he hit so hard (and he had to sit for a minute and shake it out). There was also a time back at our old place where Chief (same situation) ran into a tree and nearly knocked himself out. Is mine missing that extra sense that dogs are supposed to have, or are all boxers this clumsy????? I'm afraid he's going to really injure himself because he doesn't pay any attention to what's around him?!!!!!

Alright.. this freakin' scares me too!!!
Snatch has ran into tree, barbecue pits and came back limping..
At 4 months old, Oxford ran into a bush, got stuck in his jump and dislocated his shoulder....

When the run everyday.. side by side... they come sooo close to trees, bush, wall, people... it's scary!!!

My friend told me his boxer went through their bay window once and add several suture points... nuts! they are nuts!

I usualy put a end when he comes to be too scary. I call their nam e and say "enough" so they slow down their chase....

Roxy in a chase around the car will almost always bang her head on the bumper of the car and the car will shake. Deuce will duck under a table and you'll hear a loud bang as he hits the table. Yep, my boxers do this all the time.

One time when we were at camp, the dogs were in a high speed chase and Brady ran right into the bumper of the car. The whole car shook, I saw it all happen and as hard as he hit, I would have thought he would be knocked out cold.

While wrestling, the hit walls quite often, usually rolling into them though. Dozer is the frequent wall hitter/kicker though, he does a weird headstand looking manuever and rolls his body over his head like a somersault, he just doesn't make sure there aren't any walls in the way first!

Yep, they are clumsy in general...

DH tells me a story of his childhood boxer, Zeke, who hated squirrels... and one day he launched himself off of the raised deck (couple feet off the ground) straight at a tree to get a squirrel. Zeke slammed headfirst into the tree trunk, knocked himself out cold. They thought he was dead. Woke up after a few minutes and went right back to stalking the evil squirrel!

I am sure it wasn't at the time, but this did make me chuckle.

My two scare the H*ll out of me everyday. So far we have not had any "run ins" with the exception of Aniah hitting her head on the underside of my car because she is getting to big to get under there. She used to make a mad dash whenever Cody was getting too rough. But nothing like what I have read here, but oh they come sooooo close, makes your heart almost skip a beat.

Oh yes!! I hear bumps and knocks all the time. It's not quite as bad as if there were two boxers in the house cause Bailey is only small and she can't roughhouse with him like a bigger dog but she does her share. Hope your baby's head is OK.

SuzyQ does this particularly if she is chasing a fly in the house or bird or butterfly outdoors. She is just so focused on her "prey" she doesn't pay any attention to where she is going. She always looks so surprised when she hits something it really is comical. One time DH was running speaker wire under the trim in the living room and SuzyQ was throwing a toy around. Neither one was paying attention to the other and DH bent down when Q jumped up and he got a pretty good shiner out of the deal. I couldn't laugh in front of him, but it really was pretty hysterical.

Oh yes Joey does this too. He has hit the wall, the deck and a tree. The tree nearly knocked him out but after a second he was ok. Cloey my other dog is a blue healer and I have never seen her do it so I think its just a clumsy boxer thing.

Rocky does stuff like this too. On several occasions I've been out walking Rocky and he'll get focused on people in their driveway and walk right into their mailbox

Abbey does this too, it is soo funny looking! She tucks her head under and kinda rolls onto her shoulder with her butt up in the air and then she flips over. They sure are 'special.'

Tyson has ran into our patio door full tilt. I thought for sure he got hurt, but no, he still charges down to the door. I just make sure it's open. BF was outside when it happened, and had quite a laugh. He has walked into trees, bushes, pretty much everything you can think of on our walks. It is just so funny. Our family clown!! Upstairs he will chase the cat, and I hear alot of commotion, but not sure if it's the cat or the dog. You'd swear they were ripping down the house!
