Red face What color is he?

I'm new to this site and I did read on the boards about no black boxers, however I have a boxer mix that is a flashy black and white. In the sun he looks like a dark chocolate brown, but really he mostly looks black. So what color should I say that he is? He is a mix, we don't know what with, but he looks mostly like a boxer. Here's a pic....

Here's another as puppy... gosh he was so cute!

He does look mostly boxer! If he's mixed, then it is a possibility he could have a black coat - but from what I can tell I would say he's a very dark reverse brindle.

Reverse brindle is when the black striping is so heavy the dog appears to be black with fawn stripes.
Take a look at this site - about halfway down the page is a picture of a reverse brindle boxer.

I don't see any sign of brindling in his coat - and from his photos would believe him to be a mix. Do you happen to have any photos taken in sunlight? Indoor shots cannot show the coat accurately.

If he is indeed black, then I would call him black. It's not an impossible colour if the dog has mixed heritage You're in the best position to tell... does he have stripes? If he doesn't, then he isn't brindle (reverse or otherwise). If his coat is solid colour, then you should call him black (or possibly chocolate, if he's closer to dark brown than black).

Reverse brindle is a dark dog - but also one with distinct fawn stripes (not very evident in the poor quality photo on the above-linked site, but a requirement nonetheless ). Some more discernable photos of reverse brindle here:

As you'd note, the dog is very dark in the coat - but there is no doubt at all that he is brindle, and not black.

Okay, I am probably way off here, but when I look at him I see boxer/american bull dog. He is a cute guy!

He looks maybe like he has some pitbull in him??? Not sure. He is a cutie though. Mostly looks like boxer.

Can you get a better shot of him? Maybe outside and more of his body?

Plenty of Boxer in him judging by how he thinks hes small enough to sit in your lap!

Pretty dog BTW.

Your pup looks very similar to this one I found on a Boxer Rescue site:
A sealed brindle
