Brush
Ruben shedding has improved SO much since we switched to raw, but I still need to find the right type of brush for him. I have tried natural bristle brushes, the rubber kind (supposed to use static) and neither really worked well. Any suggestions?

Have you tried a currie(sp) comb similar to what you use with horses? They work very well and the dogs love it!

I highly suggest a Kong Zoom Groom. They work great and can be used at bath time for an extra good scrubbing too. My pups love the zoom groom and I even have to keep it hidden because they like to play with it.

This is what I use as well and Moab loves it. I don't use it during bathtime as much because Moab like a good scratching with my nails as well as some massage time during his bath. But, overall, I love this brush and it seems to work really well.

Two words- Zoom Groom! It's the best for a short, slick coat just like Boxers have. Since it's made entirely of rubber there is no chance it can scratch like a metal brush or shedding blade *shudder*. Don't be afraid to be vigorous with it, it feels like a massage and Pearl loves hers!

This is what we use with Punchinella. It works well at removing loose hair, and since it's made of rubber, it's gentle enough for her short coat. It works great during bath time too.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.

I use a curry brush as well. It really gets off the excess hair and Minx loves it.

I have tried all the brushes out there, and I have to be honest, what I have found to pick up and remove hair the best is a towel. I know that sounds strange, but if you give a vigorous rubdown with a good towel, it works wonders. I suppose this comes from doing this with horses, but it works!!

Thanks for all of the replies. Just switching his diet to raw has working wonders for his shedding but it hasn't stopped completely. I'm definitely going to try the towel trick and next time we are in Pet Smart I'll pick up a currie brush.

I used to brush Grunt with a boar bristle brush, and finish with a microfibre cloth - I read about the microfibre cloth in Whole Dog Journal, and it really picks up the stray hairs and his coat was so shiny! We tried the Zoom Groom, but he always wanted to play with it!
