This is Mindy's first winter with me, so I have no idea how she is going to react to the cold and snow, it is always interesting! Hopefully she won't mind it too much and we will be able to do outside things. She does have a slightly longer coat then a normal boxer (she is a mix) so maybe she won't be as sensitive to the cold. I really appreciate all the ideas and I definitely plan on trying some of them out, especially the laser pointer, seems many use that successfully (the remote control car sounds like fun for me and her)! Thanks everyone!

Jager loves the winter! He thinks the snow is fun. . . . but can't last out there for more than a half hour or so at a time, too cold for the short fur (and he refuses to wear any doggy clothes!). We like to kick the snow up right in front of him and he goes nuts trying to eat it! It's hysterical! And he loves to try and catch snowballs, or at least try to find them once they've landed in the snow! Hahaha! He keeps us laughing! Awww, now I can't wait for the snow! hehehe! Then after the fun it's nice to go inside and warm up together! Once he's all tired out, he'll actually lay down for a little on the couch!

Oh, I'm sorry, I just remembered something else! 2 weeks ago we got Jager a new toy. . . a flexible plastic frisbee. . . . this is his MOST favorite toy ever! He's still obsessed with it, sometimes he'd rather play with it than go out and potty or eat dinner! hehe! And he will play with it by himself for a bit, entertaining us while he tryies to pick it up with his mouth, and trying to scratch at it with both front paws! Oh my gosh! It's too funny! He can't catch it at all though! Enen if you throw it directly into his mouth, he just drops it! haha! But he sure loves that thing! Sometimes he'll just carry it in his mouth and prance around the room .. . like he's showing it off!

i used to switch to running on the treadmill in the winter. I hate to be cold. Since the dogs, i have picked up cross country skiing. Last year i got snow shoes for Christmas and LOVE that activity.
I do not like the laser because I do not like to encourage "hyper" activities.
Our basement has agility equipment which keep the dogs and kids entertained.

Have you tried letting her search for things? I hide kibbles through out the house and then Lana go look for them, kind of like an easter egg hunt. You can start out simple just in the corners of the room and get more difficult by hidding under or in things, between shoes...
Another great toy for wood floors is an empty plastic coke bottle. Lana kicks and chases it like a soccer ball but with less damage to the interior of the house.
The laser pointer is an all time favorite at our house as well.

Play in snow
Morgan LOVES to be outside. But then again, I put her "jacket" on her and her "shoes" since it gets cold here in Wisconsin.
She's a hit at our xmas tree farm in December w/ her clothes on.
She loves to chase the snow shovel and jump up for snow balls.
She also has one of those flexible, rubbery frisbees...she LOVES it too!
She pounces on it w/ her paws...check out my gallery - there's a pic of Morgan w/ her shoes on.
It really helps...she would only last for appx. 15 - 20 minutes...now she's good for an hour - she used to pick her feet when they got too cold - so I felt bad and bought her the shoes and they're great.
