I can't believe what I just saw....
Me and my DH took our nephew and Hank to the lake yesterday. I met this new Boxer baby in our area last week, and low and behold here she was coming up the path with her owner. Her name is Zoe, and her owner is a teenager early twenties, so maybe you can start to get my drift. Her and her friend walk Zoe over to where the swimming area is, and her owner gets into the water. What do you think she does? She THROWS Zoe in the lake. She is only 3-4 months old! I just about cracked up. She couldn't swim, and they just kept laughing at her TRYING to swim. Her head kept going under, and she did try to do the doggie paddle, but when she got her paws on the bottom, she ran out of the water as fast as she could. Then the boyfriend showed up, and what do you think he did? You guessed it, threw her in again! I lost it then. I didn't go off on them, but I let them know that Boxer's are not natural swimming dogs. There chests are not made for them to swim well. It makes them sink fast. He said something about her webbed feet, but I just told him that is not for swimming, if he wanted to learn how his baby shoud be treated and raised to go to Boxerworld.com, he would learn everything there that he needs to know. I wasn't mean, but I hope he took the criticism well and will look at our site to educate himself. He told his girlfriend that Boxer's are not great swimmer's, and she said she did fine! Have ya ever just wanted to shake some sense into someone? At that moment I wanted to. Sorry so long just needed to vent.

Yikes! Well, I sure hope they come here - it'd be one heck of a learning experience. I think you did the right thing!

Bless you for saying something! Hopefully they will do some research and use some common sense, and stop putting their baby in danger!

Re: I can't believe what I just saw....
My cousin threw his pup in the pool when we were kids..... hundreds of dollars later and a bad case of pnemonia taught him throwing puppies in the pool could cause them to try to breath under water.... Not a pretty sight
Good for you for saying something!!!

Re: I can't believe what I just saw....
BF done that with his old dog (he was about 1yr when he got him), I wasn't with him then. I'm not into that approach myself. I'm not into water much myself, & if someone was to throw me in, they can expect a fight when I get myself out. Poor dogs, they get scared just like we do.
Rogue was introduced to water very slowly. BF wouldn't dare to throw my baby in. He'd get more than wet if he tried. However, since raising a dog/furbaby with me his attitude towards dogs has softened, & Rogue is sooo his baby too. He would never scare/harm her in anyway.
I think that people just need to educate themselves, that or dig deep & find their hearts.
