Our new rescue, Mali (Molly)
I traveled to Iowa yesterday to pick up our new family member. She is a 10 month old flashy brindle named Mali for Muhammed Ali, as in M. Ali, pronounced Molly. DBF Steve is a fan of Ali so I think we'll keep the name. Oscar is from Wisconsin so I could say I have a cheese head and a corn dog. It is a perfect match. Oscar is small for a male and Mali is also quite petite. When they first met, Mali was all over Oscar but he was ignoring her. There were so many new smells at the rescue center and she was only one of many. When I went in to complete the paperwork, they started playing in the yard and the volunteers marveled at how beautiful they look together and how hard they play. They were both crated for the drive home and walked separately when I stopped. I finally arrived home, Steve met us in the driveway and marveled at how sweet and beautiful she is (of course after first greeting his main man, Oscar). When we let them loose in the house it was a nonstop Boxer triathlon of tandem Boxer burning, bouncing off the sofa, and boxing. When they got tired they would wrestle while lying on the floor. I was wondering when it would stop but they both settled nicely in their crates for the night. Before falling asleep, Mali whined a bit and it sounded like a baby crying. Steve whispered "It's a girl!" and kissed me as we all drifted to sleep. Mali snores! Oscar sleeps in his crate with the gate left open and he was up at 5AM, first waking me up and then Mali. With no hope of sleeping in, we all got up and took the dogs outside. After a moring of more triathlon, they are asleep, in the same room. It's a miracle!
Two Boxers are not two times the fun, they are ten times the fun. I wonder if I will be saying this after I've had two for a while.
For now, we are so happy!
