Stir crazy with Lola & Zeb

My two haven't been out for a walk for little over a week now as they've had kennel cough and they have been driving us crazy tonight.
For the past week they haven't been too bad as I guess they haven't felt so good well tonight they've made up for it I can tell you.
For the past 3 hours they have been loonies in the house & garden and it doesn't help that it's raining outside now or I'd just leave them out there for a while. They have all this pent up energy and have just been like live wires literally boinging off the ceiling.
I haven't heard neither of them cough for the past 2 days and massaged their throats a little while ago not daring to tempt fate and nothing, no coughs nothing. The vet said they can go out for walks when they've stopped coughing and told me to check by doing this so I suppose tomorrow I will venture out with them

My poor sons only been in for 5 minutes and he's just got cross with them. Zeb pounced all over him and wouldn't let up then Lola joined in, they had him pinned to the sofa and he's a strapping 18yr old.
They're climbing the walls and being so challenging I haven't been able to relax all night

ahh thats too bad! Tell your son to throw a toy, or throw on his wet suite, and take them out for you! You need a break for a change!

Re: Stir crazy with Lola & Zeb

Let me try explain how bad they are, mums shut them out of her bedroom (unheard of, she adores them), my daughter had been on her computer upstairs earlier and wanted to come down to watch TV with us she got half way downstairs and decided against it after seeing Lola & Zeb flying about and dh has gone to bed early as they're p*ssing him off.
I can hear them now mouthing each other in the lounge, they must be on my son as all I can hear is 'Get off me NOW' God I'm going for a ciggie to calm my shattered nerves.
*sigh* I am so going to walk them tomorrow morning, mum will do her nut if they're like this tomorrow while we're at work

Re: Stir crazy with Lola & Zeb

I assume you've thrown toys and such to help them release energy indoors?

Here's another thought. We call my daughter the jumping queen because she has a thing about jumping. She jumps her snowboard, she jumps her horse, she pretends to BE a horse jumping, etc. Well, she also sets up jumps for the dogs in the house. She puts them on a leash, and runs with them up to the jump and yells, "Jump!". They go pretty high!

Seems like this would be a good form of energy release indoors for your Boxers. In addition to throwing toys, hiding toys, etc. She is also teaching Kuzco to smoosh down and crawl UNDER the jump. It's totally cute.

Re: Stir crazy with Lola & Zeb

When I broke my leg, and couldn't take them for their walks, we played ball on the steps. I would be at the top, they would be at the bottom. I would either roll or throw the ball down the steps, they caught it and brought it up the steps. After 15 minutes of this, they were tired and had to rest. It was a good way to burn off some of their energy. What's funny now is that sometimes I will hear the ball bouncing on the stairs-they have learned to play by themselves! Aren't my babies smart!
