Murderer In Dance Class - Sorry Long

My 5 year old daughter has dance class every Saturday morning. While the girls are in class the parents usually wait the hour out in the waiting room chatting. This is our first year at the school and I am still getting to know everyone. Well this past Saturday the talk turned to dogs. I was all for the opportunity to tell everyone how great my Fletcher is. We got to talking about kids and dogs and I said that Fletcher was the best dog anyone could ever hope for with kids. This one mom asked me what kind of dog I had. I proudly responded - he's a boxer. Her face got all screwed up and she says "Those are the worst dogs to have around kids - We got one when it was a puppy and when it was 11 months old it snapped at my son. I hate those things. I made my husband take him out back and get rid of him" I was a little taken aback because I have honestly never heard of a boxer especially a puppy snapping at a kid unprovoked. So I told her I said "I am shocked to hear that. The breed is actually documented as being one of the best to have with kids and I know lots of people with them that will never own another breed because htey are so great with the kids." I asked what was going on when this happened and she said the dog and her son (who was 4 at the time) were playing with a stuffed animal and the dog lunged at the kid. I was horrified. I said "OMG, the dog was just playing. Boxers can be a little rowdy, it was just a behavioral thing that you could have trained him not to do, he wasn't trying to bite your child or hurt him. You gave him away because of that?" Thats when it went really bad. She said "No, we didn't give him away because of that, my husband took him out back and shot him." I swear to you, I must have looked like someone punched me. I was in such shock, then I felt physically ill, all in the space of like 30 seconds. I couldn't even say anything to her, I just walked out of the room, pulled my daughter out of class and went home. I honestly don't think I can go back there and face that horrible woman (*murderer*) again. I told my husband that if I did my mouth would get me in to trouble so he has to take Carly to class from now on. I am so sick about this.

Holy crap! Does she think she is living in the days of the wild west or what? Besides being totally reprehensible, there are laws against that sort of behavior. How does she live with herself? I'm shocked - I just don't even know what else to say.

It would be a very good idea if people were forced to go to doggie classes before being allowed to own one, then this sort of ignorance would get squashed out.

I hope they haven't owned another dog since.

I think they should be brought on on animal cruelty charges, regardless of whether it was a boxer or not.
That poor puppy. What the heck is wrong with people!

That is absolutely horrible! And this woman has children too; what a great lesson for them to learn I can't believe that she would actually go around broadcasting the fact that she did this. What an utterly depraved witch of a woman. I'm sorry you were subjected to this.

Oh my God, that has just made me feel so sick after reading that. That poor dog probably had the worse few minutes before it got shot. They probably kicked the crap out of it before shooting it......I feel so sad now!

WOW. I'm not really sure what to even say. She must be a real winner to even SAY something like that.
Poor baby.

I'm sick to my stomach right now reading this. I feel physically ill. That poor poor puppy never had a chance. I'm glad it was you and not me at that class b/c I don't think I could have exercised such restraint.

Wow..I am appalled not only at that woman's "murderous" actions, but also the fact that she would openly voice this with no remorse or disregard! You should be commended for your composure by just taking yourself out of the situation b/c there was obviously no use in debating the subject with this woman. God hope she and her "murderous" husband don't own any other pets now and I question their parenting abilities as well. I hope your daughter isn't friends with their daughter b/c there would be no way I could let me kid go over to their house play. I wish you could turn these people into the authorities for animal cruelty or something, but unfortunately that would only make things difficult on your daughter and it wouldn't bring the boxer back.
