Rainy Day Blues

It has rained here for the last 3 days and Spike has not been able to get outside and "burn" up the yard. I am the idiot that you see walking the dog with an umbrella in the pouring down rain. Although that is good all 3 of us (skin kid has to tag along too), Spike HATES to get his feet wet so he doesn't enjoy the walk at all, he looks like a Tenn. walking horse. We play fetch in the house (my poor rugs) but he is still seems like he needs to burn more energy. With winter knocking on the back door, I was just wondering what everyone else does to get their baby's exercise in. As long as we can get outside and get his "burns" out he doesn't get into things he should not in the house, and he is a super wonderful puppy! But the past few days he has been bouncing off of the walls. I am sure that we will still be able to get outside, even if it is cold, for a short game of catch or frisby tossing. Just wondering what we can do on those rainy days, especially when they are a few days in a row.

Max hates the rain also. He won't go out unless I make him. I have to go with him to make sure he goes potty and then it is right back into the house--lickity split!! It is so funny to watch him.

Riley just looks at me like what the heck is going on??? She looks like she doesn't know what anything is...and she is so little she really doesn't. She is so cute.

The first time Spike really got soaked in the rain, we came running up onto the covered front porch. He was standing there waiting for me to open the door and I told him to shake (to shake the water off of his fur) he looked at me like I was nuts and set down and held up his paw. I started to laugh because his that is his paw shake command! I sure he thought I was crazy!

I guess I'm lucky, Kilbane has no problem going outside when it rains unless there is thunder and lighting. He even loves the snow, he'll do burns keeping right in the same path almost like a snow cross race. He's like a little kid, they just ignore the cold and keep on playing to the point where I have to grab his collar to bring him inside. He's such a spazz.

Cerb hates the rain. I have to push him out the door and then he stands under the eaves where it's dry. I have to go out and lead him down to the grass where he potties and runs for the door.

Strange because he loves to go wading in the river up to his chest. He just doesn't like the droplets on him.

Mine all hate the rain too. Baron actually has booties for his feet or he's not going outside. Zoie manages to pee right outside the door on the porch, under the eves of the house to stay dry. Cricket looks like a little piggie, covered in mud when she goes out. I think it's revenge for putting her out in the rain.
They all come back inside to a nice dry towel and usually stay wrapped up for a while after.

Brody loves the rain. Absolutely loves it, especially when it's REALLY pouring- he'll scratch at the door and paw at the window blinds until I let him out. He also loves the hose, ofcourse, and even the shower. I have to put him in his crate when I shower or he will muscle his way into the bathroom and jump right in the tub with me.
