Do Dogs think????
I just wondered, because Elvis sits on the couch and always looks like he is thinking deeply about something. My mum says they dont think like humans but they cant just be thinking nothing hey!?!
Whats your thought on the situation.

They must think to some degree as Lola has worked out that if there is a dog nearby on our walks if she lays down I can't shift her for love nor money
I don't know about day dreaming or anything like that but when they sit there and then go get up to get a toy or something they must have thought about that musn't they?

I'm pretty sure dogs think... not too sure to which level but this is what my guys do.
Last week they had a play date with our neighbour's boxer and Chevy had a stick and Louie and Caecer (neighbour's boxer) were chasing him. Caecer got the stick and Chevy couldn't get it back so Chevy stopped and sat there for a minute and then ran to the fence let out 2 barks (there was no one by the fence)and then the other two ran to to fence barking as Chevy quickly ran to reclaim his stick.
Also Chevy is a bit jealous when I cuddle with Louie and I'm sure Louie knows this because if Chevy has one of the toys that Louie wants Louie will come up to me and start licking me and of course Chevy has to quickly join us but then Louie runs to get his toy.

Yea, they think.........
I LOVE the way Biff tilts his head from side to side when something is going on that he doesn't understand

They are too smart NOT to think. I believe they ponder ways to become more spoiled.

My two do this also. Layla is a little brighter than Brody. She will look at Brody barking and may even drop the toy. But if she knows Brody wants it bad she will not leave the prize for nothing.
I do think they have some degree of thought or they wouldn't figure out what makes us happy. I do know that if we are working on training and both me and the dog are getting frustrated. If we stop and come back to it the next day, they seem to magically understand what I was trying to get them to do the day before. It's like they thought about it all night and wham it hits them "That's what she want!".

Heck Yes- they think! You should see the way Payton plots out his moves to get either Mitzi or Arnie to chase him, and play with him. It's hilarious!
