Now what do I do?

I had posted that Duquessa was getting a new playmate recently. Another 4 year old female, Daisy. Well.....
Duquessa hated her. I thought that maybe, she might be a tad wary with another female, but I never expected the reaction that she had. Duquessa is so dog friendly and plays with other females and males all the time. Daisy wasn't here for 1 minute and they were fighting, Duquessa went after her! Daisy seemed like a nice dog, friendly, playful, but Duquessa wouldn't have anything to do with her. She sat with her back to Daisy the whole time and would look at her out of the corner of her eye and if Daisy came to close, snarl, snarl, snap!
I was shocked. I guess that she sensed that something was up and was having none of it.
I really want to get another boxer, I was looking at rescue's online too. Would a puppy be better or am I now a one boxer owner?
The next day our friends came over with their border collie, a male, and Duquessa was so happy, they romped and played all day, even stealing a ball from each other.
I guess that she knows the difference between visiting dogs and dogs that might move in!?

That's such a shame. I know that my worry with getting another dog (even though they are both still puppies) was if their personalities clashed. I wonder if Duquessa just doesn't want to share YOU? I know some dogs can be very jealous.

Duquessa probably does know that difference between a playmate and a roommate! I can tell you from our experiences in the last few months, it may be that she is letting the new dog know who the "Alpha Dog" is. We are going to a specialist for our problem, but it is more complicated. We also have gotten to the point we are at because we did not let them establish their "pack issues". In other words we did not let them fight to see who was boss. I imagin that is what Duquessa is doing....she is just making sure everyone knows she is the leader!

Could it be that it was another female in her home? I know Eddie loves all females.......some males away from "his house", smaller breed males...and ,all puppies are ok too. BUT not adult males in his house!!!!! You could try a male rescue??!! Just an idea.

Thanks for your reply's.
Your right Eddie's Mom, a male may be the only way to go. Maybe a male puppy would be OK! I'll keep looking at rescue's and see if I can find a male that doesn't mind a dominant female.
Sheesh, I call Duquessa Queen B now.

Sometimes Female/Female combo just doesn't click! I have a female boxer she was 7 months at the time and I wanted another female as a playmate! Well, when we went to look at the litter. The breeders said since Jazz (my female) was somewhat dominant and not sure of a female/female combo they suggested on me getting a male. I had no problem choosing my little boy "Chase" He is perfect for our home. Jazz is our WIld woman and Chase is our "Mellow guy" They are best frineds!
Maybe you should try a male/female combo.
