Mabel and I just came home from "Pet-A-Cure", which was a kick-off for a new exhibit at our state museum. The exhibit is called "Pets in America".

Please note that I am
NOT asking for any donations. I just want to share my first outing with Mabel around other animals. She was fabulous! She was a little excitable at first, but got in the groove of things within 20 minutes or so. All the dogs and their owners met in front of the museum for a little stretching, then there was a blessing, and then we were off to walk around the canal. It wasn't a race, so there was not a first place winner. However, Mabel did so good around all those dogs that I definitely consider her a winner. We saw approximately four other Boxers, where they all did the appropriate jackhammer greeting. There was even a German Shepherd in a wheelchair for his back legs - what a trooper!
After the walk we checked out the booths set up for different rescue organizations - feral cats, greyhounds, exotic felines, pit bulls, Weimaraners (where I did make a small donation for Kasey), general pet adoptions, plus they even had one for miniature ponies. There were booths set up for massages and pedicures - Mabel loved her massage. Plus, got information at a booth regarding K-9 blood donations - have to do some research first. And talked to an animal communicator for a minute. She told me to get Mabel some cheddar treats because those are her favorites. Hee.
Anyway, Mabel came home and is now resting in the air conditioned family room, but she was my little superstar today and definitely deserves all the cheddar cheese treats she wants!
