Zoey's Adventure At the Beach

I took Zoey down to the ocean today, and just our luck, the tide was WAY out! There was a lady with her young daughter there, but otherwise we had the whole beach to ourselves. I led Zoey down to the waters edge and let her off leash. She tried to eat barnicles, seaweed, and a broken clam shell
She chased little mud-skipper fish in the tide pools, and I found several clam holes (making bubbles in the sand) whish fascinated Zoey to no end. I had to stand with her and watch her dig for her clams. At one point her nose was covered all the way up to her eyes in the sand trying to pull out the clam!
Then the Canadian Geese started to arrive on the beach. Zoey couldn't believe her luck! She chased the geese into the water and then tried to pounce on them (but they were too deep )!!
She came up with a new game: Kind-of like barrel racing... Goose/Mom Racing. She would burn around me, and then run at the geese in the water, do a fly-by, and then come back and burn around me... repeat. I was killing myself laughing... and those geese sure were giving her a stern honking to. LMAO I'm going to find out when the tide is out again so she can chase more geese! What a silly girl I have!

Sounds like you both had some fun!! I can just see your girl doing the boxer burns around the geese. I bet they were excited to see Zoey.

Rusty loves the beach too. I got brave last weekend when we went down and let him off the leash for the first time. The sun was setting so there weren't that many people on the beach. He started chasing the sand pipers along with his big brother Tiger. The only problem I had was when I was ready to call it a night, he just kept running, chasing the birds. I finally had to go in the water after him to get him to stop. Looks like I need to do some more come when called training. I wish I had gotten it on video.

It sounds like Zoey had a great time. Markus used to love the beach too and would dig for clams as well. Here is a link to the tides at Point Atkinson which should be fairly accurate for Squamish.

Thanks, Jan! Now I can take her to the beach again today. Those geese better watch out!

Jill, I don't have a video camera I sure wish I'd had one yesterday! But I'm going to bring my camera along today so I'll at least get some picutres of her. My digital camera is an older one with no video capabilities! But pictures tonight when we get back!
