Question Nail clipping help!!

Sorry---long post!

I have a 1-1/2 year old boxer that absolutely HATES getting her nails clipped...and ALWAYS has. From the time I got her at 8 weeks, I did everything that the trainers said..played with her feet, made it fun, gave her treats..EVERYTHING, but it has never really helped. When she was real small, 2 people could clip her nails. Now, she is 54 pounds and has that "teenage attitude". The last few times I have tried, I've had to take her into a groomer to get it done. This last weekend, she got extremely defensive when she was getting them clipped, and tried to bite both myself and the groomer. She was getting so upset, that after only her left-hand side was done, I made the groomer quit. Has anyone had their dog act like this?? Other than the nail clipping, Bell has NEVER had any socialization problems.

I have seen several posts regarding a "Dremel". Is this safe? I think this may make Bell flip out even more! HELP!! Thanks!!

Have you tried

a Dremel?

Our boxer dislikes the clippers, but does well with a dremel tool and sanding drum at lower speeds. Have the dremel running so that it runs from the rear to the front of the claw.

With a steady hand, this works well, and gives a neat appearance.

My thought

I know there's a lot of praising about the dremel device «when used with a steady hand» and that's where it goes wrong for me -- Ginger also HATES her nails being clipped and we have the hardest time trying to get her to stay still (bt she's OK at the groomer) so....

Maybe I'll try it one day, when she's older, I don't know. I didn't know about dremel before I learned about it on BW -- it may be worth trying.
