boxer size

I have a female fawn boxer who is 7 months now but she is still very small. She is only about 18 inches tall. She was not the runt of the litter, she was actually one of the biggest. I dont remember my other boxer being that small. Is this around the average size for this age or do i have a "minuature boxer"? At what age are they fully mature?

Also around what age are they when the first go into heat? I would like to have her fixed but I was told to wait until after the first heat. Is this correct?

7 months is still a puppy and she still has plenty of growing to do. As for going into heat, it varies dog by dog. My first boxer went into heat at 6 mo's and Arabella didn't go into heat until she was 2 yrs. You most certainly can spay her before she goes through her first cycle and most people recommend it.

You never know when they're going to go through a growth spurt. I thought Dakota had slowed down because he hadn't really gained much weight from 6 to 8 months and then from 8 to 9 months he gained around 8 pounds in 4 weeks and got much taller and from 9 to 10 months he's only gained maybe half a pound. So it could be that she'll just be small but then again she could all of a sudden go through a big growth spurt. I wouldn't worry about it as long as she is healthy for the size that she is and she is also still very young.

I find it cute that she is a small boxer =) I always wanted a big dog that stayed puppy size lol... Ill love her with all my heart no matter her size. Thank you guys for the information
