Question Age of bitch in heat

At what age do bitches normally start going into heat? My first boxer was spayed, but the pup we are getting we might not get spayed. I am just wondering at about what age I should keep her away from male dogs in our area!! LOL Anyone with any info please let me know!! Thanks!

Are you doing conformation with her? If not she should get spayed, it's healthier for her and then the world doesn't end up with more dogs and puppies being euthanized.

I've seen boxers go into heat anywhere from 4 months to 24 months.

I rescued a female whom the vet told me she thought was spayed, then she went into heat in June. I don't know her exact age, but she was around 18 months old.

If you got her from a reputable breeder, they might be able to tell you when this particular mother's pups have tended to go into heat, but that's not a gaurantee either.

I would ask the breeder when the dam of the litter went into her first heat - that will usually give you good idea of when you can expect your pup to go into heat.
