Zebedee just turned 2 last month and is quite a shorty, he weighs 61lbs. The breeders owned both his mum & dad and we met them, they weren't overly big either. Did you get to see Apollo's parents as that has a lot to do with the over all size of any pups?

I'd say he is perfect size and a handsome boy too.
I think there are a few over sized boxers out there which let us loose perspective that the boxer is actually a medium size dog and not a large one.
Main thing is he's a healthy and happy dog

He just seems overall "thin" too us I guess, but then again, Zeus our white boxer is a tractor trailer himself.

Over worrying I guess.

LOL - yes, over-worrying Your dog is a perfect size for an adult male, and a very good weight too.

To go by the letter of the breed standard (FCI - since it describes weight as well as height), he should weigh about 66lb. That's 30kg, which is correct by the standard for a 60cm (23.6 inch) dog.

But bear in mind that that's for mature males. At 2 years old, your guy is really only approaching maturity - which is generally reached somewhere between 2-3 years old. AND it is the standard. Not every dog fits precise standard proportions, just as all humans don't

From your photos, he looks in excellent condition. He still has a waist! And he should have a waist, even if the majority of pet dogs you see are overweight and have long since lost theirs. I really would not be in the least worried about him, and definitely wouldn't try to change his shape. Very likely, he'll gradually fill out a bit more with age - and the trick then is not to let it go too far (specifically, above 66lb for your dog would be overweight).

PS: Your dog is almost exactly the same height and weight as mine Except mine had to diet after I did let him get too fat.

Yeah, I think we are just use to comparing him to Zeus who has naturally been a large boxer.

Was taken on 08/28/2006 and neither of them have grown much since then.

Was taken in December and I think Zeus is saying (Hurry up mom!) by way of his sitting. I think Celeste tried getting a perfect picture for a good 10min.

I appreciate everyones comments on his looks.

hehe.. your baby seems to be actually the "standart" which is pretty rare to come accross nowadays .. many boxers are way too large compared to the standart of the breed!

I have to admit.. I have what you can call a "small" boxer.

Snatch is now 4.5years old.. at his max weight, he reached 53lbs for just under 22inches.
He does not keep the weight.. and is more likely around 51lbs... The vet keeps telling me.. he needs to be around 54lbs.. well.. i guess it is not in Snatch's nature to be overweight at all!

This post makes me feel so much better. We worry about Ruben's weight also. At 2yrs 5 mths he is just at 60lbs. I thought he would NEVER get there! His build is almost exactly like your dog's. Our neighbor has a MONSTER of a boxer and it's hard not to compare the two.
