Expecting our first puppy

We have owned multiple rescue dogs over the years. The youngest was six months. We are expecting to bring home our first puppy late this summer. I know the basics like crate training and basic obedience. I am a firm believer in obedience school. It is great for socialization as well as the obvious.

My question is how to not cause problems like separation anxiety or a defiant juvenille etc. I have had adult dogs with separation anxiety that I have used behavior modification to train but I am worried that I will create the problem to have to fix it later. This is just an example. I am not looking for advice on these problems online.

What my actual question is "What is the best puppy training book?"

What is the most thorough and up to date book?

Just is case you are wondering, this is not our first Boxer, just our first puppy.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Annette

I'd go with Ian Dunbar's "After You Get Your Puppy" - which you can purchase separately, or bundled with his "Before" book and called "Before and After Getting Your Puppy". Both are available at www.dogwise.com

Thank you

I am so glad that you gave me that link. I almost bought the books yesterday. Now I only have to buy one of them and I can get it for a reasonable price on Amazon.

I have hundreds invested in dog books so every little bit helps.
