"Dog Listener"
Was wondering who here has read it, and what you think of it? Hey I have read some "great" books I didn't like too so be honest...
Me, I LOVED the book and the follow up "The Practical Dog Listener" it has opened my eyes to canine behavior, and a new way to train. I have gotten very impressive results applying the methods described in the book. You???

I found the book taught me a LOT of info that has made my life, and Jersey's life, much easier. I found it was a hard format to read. It was entertaining, but she would mention a very important part in a short passage and if you're skimming, you'll miss it.
Overall, I say it's a must read, but it's the sort of book you have to read in short sections. (Being a cover to cover in one day type reader, this was hard for me).
The principles applied in the book seem overly simplistic, because of the 'quick' way in which they are covered, and made it seem like they should be easy to master. The contrary, while mentioned, is very true but still unexpected. The hard work has paid off though, and I am very much the alpha in our house.

I loved it. Hubby was really skeptical about whether or not it would actually work, but we showed him he noticed the change in Brighid's behavior within a few days.

The first book, 'The Dog Listener" is an overall view of her method and she relates that method through stories about dogs she's worked with with behavior problem and training issues, etc.
Her second book, "The Practical Dog Listener" covers the same material, except in a more detailed manner, and gives you more of a "schedule and timetable" to work with your dog on each step of the bonding and then training. She still relates things with stories of dogs with whom she's worked (and their owners), but this goes into more detail and answers some of the common questions she received from readers of her first book. She sets some people's confusion straight with the more detail and schedules and more practical guide to applying her technique.
They are two different books, covering basically the same material, but in different and perhaps more/less detail.
Hope that helps.

Hello Tulsa Dan,I am having a hard time finding "The Practical Dog Listener" on line,I am able to find the The Listener.I am ordering books on line tonight and would like to get all of them at once.Amazon.com has the best deal free shipping and there prices seem to be about the same as everyone elses.Suggestions on how to locate the book would help.

Nitro,
I ordered the Practical Dog Listener from Amazon UK. It cost me about $18 american including the shipping. It is very helpful but I wish she covered more specifics with puppies.

Gee...I didn't have any problem. I typed in my regular address and zip. The only thing I can think of is that you need to let them know that it is going to the USA. Try the help page and see what they say. Good Luck.

Andi20-
why did you like Culture Clash better? I just got Culture Clash and was just planning on reading it and was going to order the Practical Listener tonight.
Just curious on why you liked this one better before I start reading both.
Thanks,
Taryn
