I am a bad mommy. Nail clipping.

I am sure that there are many threads here about nail clipping. And I read many of them but I still messed up. lilly is great with the whole nail clipping thing, hates it but tolerates it. But Oscar is terrible. I tried the method of putting peanut butter on his nose while trimming his nails. It worked great for the front paws, I got through them in no time. Didn't work so well on the back paws ,and I had someone hold him down. Well I trimmed one to short and I only got two nails in the back, he just fights the whole time. He bleed for about a minute and it stopped by itself. It doesn't appear to hurt, I was rubbing between his toes and he didn't flinch or seem uncomfortable. I am willing to spend my life savings for my furbabies with anything they need medically. But I am just to cheap to pay someone else to groom my dogs. Both have pretty low grooming needs, baths when needed, brushed once a week, nail clipping every 6 weeks for Oscar and every 3 weeks for Lilly. I feel like that mommy that cuts there own kids hair, it doesn't look that bad and I saved $20. My mom was one of those, I had a bowl haircut for years. I guess it is going to be one at a time when he is sleeping for the back paws, this is going to take forever.LOL

I am a dremmel tool convert! Jack's breeder showed us how to do nails with a dremmel tool and he has fabulously short nails. We started working on Lacy's nails and they are finally to the point where they don't click on the floor when she walks. Here is a link describing the process http://homepages.udayton.edu/~merens...el/dremel.html Years ago when I first read how to dremmel nails, it sounded way too complicated. However, it is very easy and the dogs tolerate it very well. BTW, I wouldn't pay to have someone do my dog's nails either!

I can't imagine using a dremel tool on Jackson. I can just picture him.....I doubt that I would get close to him with it. Big scaredy cat he is!!
