Angry Bad Owners

Here is a little story that just happened to me and Bruno . I took Bruno for a little walk and than we go for a ride to my parents house . I pull up to the house and Bruno and i get out of the truck (he is on a lease . It's a law in our city) and all of a sudden a neighbors dalmation runs across the street and attacks Brono . It happened so fast i didn't get a chance to try to defend him and then i notice his right ear is bleeding from a small puncture wound . The dalmation took off and there ended up being no one home at Mom & Dads house so a shaking Bruno and i go to leave and there is the friggin in bred mutt waiting for us . I grap a stick (just in case) but , then i see the owner of the dog and explain to her what just happened with her dog as she put her in the house . She didn't think it was a big deal and said her dog isn't good aroung other dogs and she really should keep her tied up (what a moron) and told me that she is usualy more aggressive when she attacks other dogs and Bruno was lucky . After seeing Bruno and how big he is (7months 62lbs) she wanted to know why he didn't fight back . I was so angry and if she was a guy i think she would be still looking for her front teeth on the ground right now. Bad enough they are not supposed to have dogs in city housing , but they own 2 dalmations . Well any ways i figured i would feel better venting about it .

How frustrating! I swear that, despite the fact that our town also has leash laws, we are encountered by a loose dog. It makes me so mad!!! I can't believe that she was so nonchalant about the whole thing. Her dog made your dog bleed - she should be apologizing right and left. It makes you want to call the warden, doesn't it? Especially since she knows the dog is a problem. And then to blame your dog for not being psycho! Some people...

Okay... that's it ! You seriously need to file a complaint with your local Animal Control, because they are totally irresponsible and the next time, whether it's Bruno or not, someone/dog will get hurt ! We have a leash law where I live too and apparently, after 2 complaints - some action is taken with the irresponsible owner(s). Her attitude is inexcusable !

Diego sends hugs & kisses to Bruno... ~ Lisa

Call Animal Control on this irresponsible owner!!

It sounds from your description that her dog has already injured other dogs, so she probably already has a file. I hope your dog is doing well and was not significantly traumatized by this incident.

That makes me SO mad!! People who let their poorly socialized, unsupervized animals run loose, I feel bad for the dog -getting stuck with such an idiot for an owner!! She probably got the dogs after her kids watched 101 Dal's - the dogs are better off without that person!

your poor baby!

I would file a complaint, and I would have my parents call EVERY time they see those dogs out without a leash. They don't do good around other dogs?! give me a break - what if you had a three year old daughter with you and that dog just came up and bit her face?!? Keep us posted! -ali

so aggravating...

I had almost the exact incident happen to me in Beverly, MA! I was walking Mahlon leashed on the beach when suddenly there was a giant husky/akita looking dog all over my dog, and me. He had escaped from a house across the street. There was no sign of an owner so I had to drag my scared little baby back to my car. This huge dog was jumping on my car scratching the paint and trying to get in through the cracked window. Finally I see this woman sauntering across the road with a leash in hand. At that point, I tried to get the dog off my car by holding his collar, he reached around and tried to bite me then he took off down the beach toward a crowd of kids. I tried to talk to the lady but she totally ignored me!! There I was left standing with a bleeding dog and hand (Mahlon's leash cut my palm open when he tried to get away from the nasty dog). Some people just shouldn't own animals.

Also.. do you guys think it's too late for me to call animal control, it happened about a week ago??

Are you sure you don't live in Sacramento? I've only met a couple of dalmations, and both attacked my dogs on different occasions at dog parks. (What the heck is it with that breed??) One of them attacked Chewy when he was about 4 months old. It chased him down at the dog park and bit him. Poor Chewy was terrified, and ran and hid behind me. The stupid dalmation kept coming over to us wanting to bite him again. I was ready to kick his teeth in if he would have tried it. And the idiot lady that owned the dog, just said "come on, Bandit" and ignored that he was trying to kill my puppy! Grrrrrrrrrr.

I would agree that you should call in immediately and report this dog. My little puppy, Emma, was killed by another dog a couple months ago (not a dalmation), so I can tell you that it does happen, and you have a chance to prevent the death or injury of another innocent pup.

I sympathize with what has happened to you and your dog. My little Bella was nipped by a dog who had already growled at her, but the dogs stupid owner brought the dog toward Bella saying "thats not nice, make friends" and of course the other dog bit Bella.
Some people should not be allowed to keep dogs. In a perfect world people should be vetted and educated in keeping a dog before they are allowed to own one.
I have heard that dalmations can have a nasty temper, but like any dog it is usually the owners fault that the dog behaves in the way that it does.
