Unhappy Pulling on leash when we walk

Champ (5months) sometimes when walking will turn around and start to chew on his leash and its a big fight for him to stop i tried to just keep walking but he then pulls it and will get it twisted around his legs which makes him fall to the ground and play with it even more its every embarrassing...HOW DO I STOP THIS?

Bring a toy along to give him when he gets in the bitey mood. Double leash him--one to a harness and one to his collar. Hold them both and when he grabs at one and tugs, drop that one. If he grabs the other, pick up the first and drop the second. If you don't give him anything to tug against, he will realize there is no more fun in grabbing and pulling the leash. You can also try switching to leash that has a section of chain near the clip. Chain isn't nearly as comfortable to chew on. If he's really bad, you might try all three strategies.
