It could upset their tummies, they might have some loose stool for a few days but most likely nothing too serious. Good to hear they're liking the food!

You could always add some of their old food back in for their next feeding, esp if you notice tummy upset.

Yeah, we will add some old with the next feeding. Now... I made a mistake last night, and must have turned my 1:30am potty break alarm off, and slept thru the whole night! My wife got up at 5am, and the pups did NOT pee in their crates! GOOD PUPPIES!!!! Wait a minute... HUH?! I have been getting up for the last 2 weeks at 1:30am and 4:30am to take them outside. I take them out at 1:30am, they pee, I put them back in the crates, and by 4:30am, one or both usually pees in the crate. Hmmm, maybe they are getting upset when I put them back in the crates? We put them down at 10pm last night. So... 10-5= 7 hours? We didn't even think this was possible at this age. We are not sure that we really want to try this on a regular basis. I know this is the desired result we want eventually, but don't know if it is too healthy at 11 1/2 weeks old. In our puppy class, there was a couple that said their 12 week old pups held it all night. I didn't believe them. We are confused at why they can't last the rest of the night when I DO take them out, tho.

Give it a go I sure wouldnt wake them to go potty if they have had a dry night they might be actually doing a pee after the 1.30 potty break because they have been woken and find it hard to go back into a deep sleep. As the saying goes " let sleeping dogs lie "

I may try it again, tonight. And hopefully, this may be a start of a good pattern, which there has been no signs of a sure pattern, thus far. Hit and miss for the most part. At times, the male will be so vocal in the crate, whining, howling, crying, and chewing on his crate door, not to pee, but just because he doesn't want to be in there, that he gets really slobbery/drooly. She lays there and watches him. This happens mostly in the daytime. At night, they settle down after about 5 minutes. Neither have any hesitance whatsoever about going in and out of the crate as long as the door is open, so I don't think that he is scared of the crate. We think that he may be having more of a problem with the separation anxiety from us. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Again, thanks to all!

2 good nights in a row as far as peeing in the crates. We have had them for a month, now. Slowly, I think they are becoming more adapt to their being in the crates. Not waking them up in the middle of the night seems to be better for the both of them. And ME too!LOL

Awesome! Once mine started sleeping through the night, our lives dramatically improved! LOL! Continued good luck and you're doing great with them.

Thanks Caney Creek. Yep, things are really looking better, now. 4 good nights in a row. We were really getting wore down, but besides the good nights in the crate with no incidents, there are a lot of nice changes happening in them, now. They seem to listen better, and their overall behaviors appear to be improving in general. All of the hard work, and long nights are beginning to pay off. I guess we need positive reinforcement too! All of our attitudes are better.

Last night was a semi success. Well, she peed a little, like she couldn't hold it all, at some point. It wasn't a full pee, but I guess a little pee is like being a little pregnant. LOL. I'm more concerned about Brody. Yesterday, we had to go back to work, and when my wife came home, there was no pee. But... she said that after she put him back in the crate to go back to work(after feeding and potty outside), she heard him from outside raising cane. He gets so worked up sometimes, to the point that it worries us. And when he gets worked up, he slobbers really bad all over the inside of the crate, and, you guessed it... pees. This seems to happen only after the short mid potty breaks, whether it is day or night. Seeing that they are doing much better at night since I stopped waking them, my thoughts tell me that if we could only see if not disturbing them in the day helped also. But... we have to feed them at this time, so we will keep an eye on him for now. I've tried putting stuffed Kongs, my tshirts, chew toys, leaving the tv on, etc. We are hoping that the reason may be that this was the first day back to work after a long weekend together, and this is why he thought we should be there. This kind of thing with him has been a 50/50. It doesn't happen all of the time.
