Morning Walks

I've started taking Jake on a long morning walk before I leave for work. I thought this would be a good idea to get him some exercise before he's crated. Usually he's dozing on my lap about that time, although once I get the leash out he's ready to go.

However, I'm finding that when we get back from the walk he's throughly energized and the last thing he wants to do is climb in the crate. This morning he gave me a whole lot of sass.

Should I skip the morning walk?

Thats kind of a tough call. If its between a morning walk and no walk, definitely walk. Other than that, i think it depends on how long your gone during the day, if its only a few hours and you think he would continue sleeping most of that time maybe you could walk him later in the day. If your gone for several hours i think the walk in the morning would help him get some energy out and not be frustrated in the crate. You know your dog so its really your decision, but just because he is a little reluctant to get in the crate in the morning doesnt necessarily mean that its not better off in the long run to let him get some energy out.
