GDOGS is depressed(sort of long)

Well i am not quite sure how to go about this,if i leave something out please ask and i will try and fill in the blanks,so here it goes. Our lab was put to sleep on the 19th of this month and ever since GDOGS has just been so depressed(at least that is what i think is wrong,we had our vet look him over and see if there was anything else wrong with him and found nothing)our lab was the only other dog he had constant contact with other than trips to the dog park and various meetings with other dogs on our night time walks.GDOGS is still looking for our lab as he is laying on the couch and hears a noise and starts going through all the rooms in the house and checks in our bedroom where our lab used to lay/sleep alot and then comes back in the living room and gets on the couch and does one of those long boxer sighs as if to say nope i aint found him but will keep looking.and he also acts like he is afraid to go outside by himself(that was the last place where GDOGS seen our lab)I just look into his eyes and it's like i can see how lonely he is.now when we had our lab and our rotti after our rotti passed our lab was not to concerned with the abscence of the rotti.he looked around for a few days then it was like well he's not coming back and that was that but with GDOGS it's completely different.am i not letting him grieve long enough,am i expecting to much to soon or ????? he is still eating and drinking as good as ever.i am so confused.thanx in advance to everyone.

Just as with humans some dogs can bounce back quicker after a loss and some take longer.
I do know that if YOU (or other family members) are having a difficult time and show it they can pick up on that and it will lengthen their grieving process.
I'd just give him a bit more time and try to keep things as normal as possible.
I had a cat that passed away a few years ago. Another cat who was in the home with him for his entire 12 years never fancied him that much UNTIL he was gone. Here I was thinking that she only tolerated his presence but once he was gone she literally was so affected she came up lame unable to walk for many weeks after. For months she paced all over the house searching for him and would cry out at night almost as if she were calling to him. It was so very sad to see. She eventually got used to living without him but I don't think she ever forgot about him.
Just give him as much time as he needs.

GDOGS is in mourning. We had Wyatt put to sleep almost 2 years ago. Bayleigh was absolutely lost. It took her a long time to get over but she eventually did. Plus it didn't help that I was upset because that made her worse.

I'm sorry for the loss of your other pup.

Poor GDOGS. I would imagine with his buddy is gone so are his routines that he was used to. I know Roxy walks in my daughter's bedroom every morning, just like she did prior to her leaving for college. She just looks and I guess hopes that she will find her there. I hope GDOGS perks up soon. In the mean time, I guess he just needs a little extra TLC.

No doubt, GDOGS is looking for his friend!!! When our lab mix died, Laney was out of sorts for about 2 mos. She just looked everywhere for her friend. Sniffed the whole back yard for her scent, etc. When she was a puppy, she had the lab as a Mama sort of. Pets have their own way of mourning. Poor GDOgs is just doing his thing....

Our Dino was the same when we lost old Sophie last summer - he was miserable, he ate ok but lost his boxer get up and go. It was as if when we lost Sophie part of Dino went too. We started taking him on walks with loads of other boxers from a boxer rescue charity which helped him to perk up a bit but it wasn't until wee Charlie came to live with us that we got Dino back.

Poor GDOGS and you - it's so sad watching them mourning.
