Mine for some reason is horrified by the garbage truck. Not sure why as she's never been near it. But if she hears it coming she will absolutely flip out. Doesn't matter if she is in the house or outside in the yard. Likes people but complete strangers you can tell she is cautious and hunkers down just a little bit, but perks right up after she sees they are ok. I try and expose her to various people and other dogs and it seems to help some with her bit of cowardice that she has. But like most she could be the biggest chicken poop dog and i'd love her regardless and try to help her through whatever happens.

This probably would not work with garbage trucks but Nick is good with targeting he learned touch. So with strangers he is intrested in but unsure of he goes up and touches their shoe. He gets clicked and treated by me and it has turned into a great game for him. Scary people have turned into treat getters. I don't ask him to touch he does it on his own I just noticed that was what he was choosing to do and renforced the behavior.

Can Scooter borrow it? When he is scared-which is all the time, he will hide behind me, and peek out as if to say, "I've got my mom here, and I'm not afraid to use her!"

Nick does that hiding between my legs too. I turned it into a trick I stand there and the cue is "Be A Horse" he runs under me and pokes his head out and stares up at me for a treat. He has gotten so good at it he tries to be a horse with only women usually not a problem but when they have short legs he almost knocks them over he is kinda tall.

Can I join your group? Cornelius is a big scaredy cat as well. I ignore him when he gets skittish but it doens't seem to work. His new thing (which just started 2 weeks ago) is that he's afraid to cross the street. Um, what?!?! We were in the middle of a cross-walk and he started shaking and tried to back up. People in their cars at the stop sign were laughing at us! Oh well, I still love my big chicken!!!

Fearless Watch Dog
So when Nick is hidding between my legs shaking I look down and stay Some Watch Dog You Are!!! He is also my work partner I work at a PetSmart and he comes with most days. You always get the people who are horrified of him or the oposite extreme they rush him to give a hug. It always makes me chuckle because the people who are afraid of him draw their arms up and step back while sucking in air saying will he bite? If they stopped and looked at Nick they would see him stepping back saying do ya think they are going to attack me??? I am glad we have lots of members for the Proud Parents of Chicken Boxers.
