'Fraidy Dog

so about 5:15 this morning Kota starts barking his fool head off. Of course being the good Mom that I am (after Jeff "suggested" I go find out what's wrong with the da*n dog!) lol I come downstairs. He is losing it at the window??? Check...nothing there, but he is shaking like a leaf? Then the thunder, lightning and rain starts!!! Freak morning storm!!! I know he doesn't like the thunder but how in the world do I do desensitize him??? He knew it was coming before I heard it. The last bad storm we had he was so upset he peed on the floor and was shaking as well. It wasn't as bad this time (maybe because I was on the main floor with him?) Any suggestions? Thanks guys...my laminate ( and sleep cycle) appreciate any help you can give!

PS Titan and the kids slept through the whole thing haha. Eric got up about 8:30 local time and said "Mom...you look tired!" No joke...I'd been up for 3 hours already lol

Thor doesn't like storms either. Tho' he's not as bad as Kota. We have a finished basement and when we have loud storms I take him down there where you can barely here the storm.

I have the same problem with my mutt Izzy. (my boxer Smoke sleeps through it) she goes nuts... panting & pacing and won't stop. I did some googling, and finally came across a site that had the "Thunder Shirt" on it. No kidding... well, I don't have the money to fork out for one of those things right now, so I have invented my own lets say... I put a snug fitting t-shirt on my Izzy and within minutes, she starts to calm down. I works with the pressure points in the dogs chest & back. And a little bit of doggie massage. I also found the T Touch wrap (via google) wich is done with an ace bandage.

You must think I'm a nut but it has worked for me!
