Comfort Zone

Denver has really bad separation anxiety and Ive been trying to find something that will calm him when we leave without having to give him drugs. I found this plug in called Comfort Zone and i was wondering if anyone else has ever tried it. Or what you guys all use to take away the anxiety. Thanks.

Re: Comfort Zone

If you'll do a search on "separation anxiety" you should be able to find lots of good information about training your dog so they are not so anxious. One of the steps I remember is to act like you're going to leave many times during the day (get your keys, purse, etc. and start toward the door) but don't leave. Gradually build up to actually leaving, but come right back in. Then stand outside for a minute, then 5, etc. Gradually build up until you can leave for 30 minutes, then longer, then longer, etc. Also, don't baby them if they're upset, but ignore them. Pay attention to them when they are not upset.

Re: Comfort Zone

My parents tried to use Dog Appeasing Pheromones (DAP) to calm down their Dalmation on nights they knew fireworks would be happening.

It didn't work...

Cool Re: Comfort Zone

Good Luck, its tuff finding the right thing.

After deep discussions Wyatt and I bought Daisy a puppy. I know it probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but hey it worked! They are the best of friends and kennel nicely. It's almost as if that is what she wanted; she went from going ape crazy to being on her best behavior over night. And we feel like our family is finally complete. I’m not saying it's for everyone and wouldn't recommend it to you, it just worked for us and Daisy.

Re: Comfort Zone

yeah in the next few months when we can find another boxer puppy thats a girl were guna get one. i hope that helps him and he wont be so lonely when we are at work. if we keep him out of his crate then he tears up the house and in his crate he just drools pools in there. i think he would love a friend in his crate with him.

Re: Comfort Zone

It is not a good idea to close dogs in the same crate. Next to each other would be fine and they will still have each other for company. Being in the same crate can cause problems, what if the puppy is annoyning him - he can't get away and may be forced to physically reprimand her or worse. If they happen to get into a fight there won't be any escape route.
