From experience of owning a boxer, boxers growl when they want to play. Plain and simple. This is not aggression in any form, my dog growled at a 10 month baby and I wasn't worried, because she then walked up to the baby and lathered it in kisses. I do have a personal issue in this, and this is because my dog does not understand that groweling in other dogs is bad. She once approached a husky, and this dog was growling very aggressively. My dog was wagging her tail furiously and totally did not understand that this dog did not want to play, and just really wanted to bite her head off.
Another thing that your friend is worried is about is nothing to worry about. Controling jumping is one of the most difficult things to teach a boxer, as well as "to come". Boxers love ppl and are very excited to see them always, if you can teach your dog not to jump thats amazing, but dont expect it for a few more months.
Really I think your friend needs to know that different breeds have different standards. They may just be like this becasue the research they have done is on an aggressive breeds such as a pitbut, so explain to them that your breed is different. You have done your own research and your dog does not show these tendencies.
