Angry Chewing holes in my comforter!!!!

HELP!!! what do i do? my ruca is chewing holes in my comforter! he will bunch it up in his forarms and chew the heck out of the thing until there is a hole! I dont understand why. my other one julius has never done anything like this he sleeps under the bed i dont know if that has anything to do with it. but this is really driving me up the wall! i want to just crate Ruca at night since Julius hasnt done anything wrong but i feel bad having one out and not the other. and i dont feel right disciplining him when i find it while making the bed in the morning because who knows how long ago it happened. any suggestions?

I would invest in some new chew toys, maybe a nice big raw bone too.

When Rogue was younger she had to be crated of a night because she would just get into everything.

I would use the crate until a level of trust can be found.

How old is Ruca?

Julius has EARNED the privelage of being loose at night, Ruca has not. Simple as that. Maybe he's restless at night, a chew toy might help, but I see no reason not to go back to a crate as long as it's a happy pleasant experience.

So glad you are not trying to correct Ruca when you find the holes in the morning, you are completely right, that is far too late, the damage is done and he won't have the slightest idea what he is being scolded about.

Hey even crated my Echo managed to 100% destroy 2 comforters in as many days! Hubby made the bed (IF you can even call it that)..their crate is between the wall and my side of the bed. I guess the hubby didn't make sure that the comforter corner was sitting correctly because Echo managed to grab the corner of it and proceeded to pull almost the entire comforter into the crate!! Its a QUEEN sized very fluffy comforter! How the hell she got the whole thing in there is beyond me. I struggled to pull it out and finally gave up and cut it loose! The very next day, she did it to the 2nd one. She must have moved the crate closer (she's learned that if she jackhammers the bottom of the crate or hits the front of it, she can move it! Smart puppy! )

Now, when crated, and i am not home, I pull the crate to the middle of the bedroom where no matter what direction she slams the crate into, there is nothing she can get. Its no small feat since its a crate large enough to hold a full sized St Bernard!

They both are now 3 years old. ive tried leaving toys out for them but if i do they WILL NOT sleep AT ALL. if i only crate ruca and not julius, ruca will end up crying ALL night. still dont have any idea on how to curb this appetite.
