Red face She ATE DOG POOP!?!

I'm stuck in gag mood right now and am thoroughly grossed out! I took Coco outside to do her business before I left for work. She walked off and looked to be sniffing a yellow leaf. She licked it and when I walked closer I found it to be another dog's DIARRHEA! I was grossed out and quickly pulled Coco away from the area but she kept trying to go back over there! What is that about and will the little bit that she licked up hurt her?

Red face

I feel a little better that MY BUDDY here isn't a sick puppy or going to be any time soon. I have to constantly check to see what he's sniffing because I've caught him a few times grabbing a browny Makes his kisses gross. I keep considering that bottle of mouthwash.

ROFLMAO!!!!! These are the things we wish we didn't see!!! All dogs do this for some reason and as long as your dog is wormed regulary it won't hurt them. It makes you think twice about that big sloppy kiss though doesn't it!!!!

I've heard so many different reasons for this behaviour right from they're lacking certain nurtrients in their diet to dominance/territorial issues (???)! In reality, most dogs will do this at a certain stage in their life and there's nothing abnormal about it. It's most definately a gross thing and yes, it will make you think twice about kissing that smosshy face! Both my dogs have done this in the past and what I did was buy a product called "Deter" from the pet supply store. It is in pill form and after they have taken a few doses, "brown bagging" it becomes as gross to them as it is to us! The pill will literally make the poop taste like what it is...POOP!! Xena would love to munch on goose poop in the park. That all changed after 1 week of Deter!! The day she stopped is imprinted in my mind forever!! No sooner did she lap up the goose poop, did she spit it out gagging, sneezing and rubbing her nose with her paws! I laughed my head off because it reminded me of my son when he said he liked lemons and sucked on one without trying to make a sour face!
Try it...it really works!

Good to see that my Coco is not the only crazy one that eats poo! It's funny because she's never really bothered her own but one of the neighbors must have forgotten to pick up after their dog and this is how Coco became brown-nosed!

and YES it definetly makes me think twice about her kisses. I took her in the house right away and washed her face, mouth and tongue, but the damage was already done! LMAO

My dear Kaite taught Drake that this was acceptable, now he goes out back and grabs himself a snack. Although he is not allowed to bring the "yard snacks" into the house and eat them. And no kisses for awhile. Not sure why he does it, we eat raw and there isnt much "nutrients" left for them to snack on.

Oh well........If I wanted a cleaner and less "offensive" pet, I would have bought a stuffed animal The best solution I have found to keep them from eating poo, is to clean it up immediately! Best and least expensive way to solve the problem (actually, when my Kaite was doing this, I posted on here many a moon ago, and the mod Jan told me "there is a very simple solution, pick it up" )

In Coco's case, I would just keep an eye on her, watch for any behavioral or eating changes, diarehha is usually indicative of some ailment, which may or may not be contagious. If you see anything out of the ordinary, then a vet visit wouldnt be remiss.
