Johann had his first agility class today...

We're doing a "Taste of Agility" class- basically a less formal version of a foundations class. I work during the time for the foundations/competition class...so we're in this one. Today was basically try some of the (mostly non-regulation) equipment out and get your dog used to being on different surfaces.

He was a super star. Jumped thru the hoop jump without any issues (have done that before). Walked right on to the low dog walk and trotted across, then slowly made his way down the other side (no crazy leaps, thank goodness). Did the regular jumps (do those in rally, so no big surprise there). Ran thru the mini tunnel like a champ.

The trainer wanted to use him to demo the mini teeter since he seemed not scared of stepping on things. He stomped on it, it moved....he got all excited and jackhammer punched it again. Then kept running back and forth across it. You could almost see him grinning when he'd get to the middle and it would "teeter" down. I think he would have done that all day. Trainer said she'd get a taller one out for us to try next week.

I cannot wait for next week.

Sounds like you guys had fun!
Where are you training? I am thinking of signing Happy up for a "dog sport sampler" class at a training school in North Yarmouth.

We train in Saco, but have done classes with 2 of the people who teach in Yarmouth (Tree frog farm right?). Both very nice and the owner is great as well (who my trainer takes agility lessons from). Are the initials of the instructor T.R.? If so...she is fabulous, we took our first basic dog manners class with her in Saco.

It's nice to see him have so much fun.

Very cool! I also had to smile thinking of what fun Johann was having. His boldness with the teeter is real impressive. Many dogs take awhile with the uncertainty of it Yep, sounds like agility is in your future.

Have fun!

What fun!!! My boss does agility with her Goldens, so there is equipment set up in our field all the time that I take Charlie Paper out & play with. He loves all the jumps, the dog walk, the A-frame, but certainly doesn't have Johann's confidence with the teeter. What a good boy you have!!! I think we see an agility star in your future! Keep having fun!
