New Agility Titles
I have not posted about our agility trials lately because we have been having a harder time in the Open class and the qualifying runs have seemed few and far between. I gave Oscar a break from trials and last weekend we returned. I wanted to see what his mood was like, and was prepared to do a few obstacles and exit the course if he appeared to be having no fun.
He finished his AKC Open Agility Standard title on Saturday and his Open Agility Jumpers With Weaves tiltle on Sunday. We moved up to Excellent Standard on Sunday and although we didn't get a qualifying run, I was pleased that he ran so well and stayed focused on quite a long course, 178 yards with 20 obstacles.
As an added bonus, the photographer got some nice shots of him on Saturday and (at least as I see it) there is pure joy on his face. I may have to break down and buy some photos. I am ecstatic over my wonderful Oscar's great weekend.

WOW! Sounds so exciting to be back in the game! Sounds like the break did him some good. We all need one once in a while. Congrats on just being a great partner to him and reading his mind so well. If ya get some pics, share them! I'd love to see his expression.

Congratulations! That's great! Sometimes a break is the best thing you can do. I had to do that with J.C. once in a while too. Although he liked agility, even that got to be boring for him after a while. Good luck in Excellent! That was something I knew we would never be doing. J.C. was at about the limit of his speed and with him nearing 6 I didn't feel I should be pushing him to make time. It wouldn't have been fun for him anymore if I did. You definitely need to get at least one picture. The most treasured picture I have of J.C. is one that a photographer took of him going over a jump. He was in his element, doing what he loved to do! Congrats again, and keep up the good work!

I love the ones of him jumping. He looks like he is flying. Very nice.

The last one of the Bloomington group looks great! We never showed there. Is it a big place or is it crowded? One of the ones taken at Soccer Blast looks a lot like the one I have of J.C. I liked showing there, even though we didn't do all that well (2 Qs out of 4 runs). The shows are so hard to get into! That same photographer took some photos of us but I didn't like any of them. She also seemed a bit expensive to me but if she would have had one I really liked I probably would have bought at least one 8x10.

Here are some more proofs. These are from a trial earlier in the summer where we had no qualifying runs and I was doubting whether we belonged in agility. This photographer's website requires some work to find a paricular dog's proofs.
On this page, you need to click the arrow on the bottom right twice. When you get to that third 'group', there are two pictures of Oscar. They are in the bottom row, the second and third proofs.

On this page, again click the arrow on the bottom right twice. There is only one picture of Oscar. It is the second row, first picture. He is going over the triple jump. As an added bonus, the last three pictures on the bottom row are of our fellow Boxer buddy, Marley. Don't let the title fool you, this was Open Standard class.
