Smile Oscar got his third (tie-breaker) measurement...

and he measured 21 3/4", so now he will be jumping 20" jumps, not 24", and I will not have to get all stressed out at any more AKC agility trials over his jump height. I'm sure I will still get all stressed out in general until we get some more experience. I took him to visit at another trial in which we were NOT competing and the judge, also and AKC Volunteer Measuring Official, graciously agreed to measure him when she had time. We ended up waiting nearly two hours, which was great because it gave him a lot of time to get relaxed.

For anyone who missed the little soap opera about his jump height at our first trial:

Our first trial

The only downside is that I will not have any excuse if he runs under the tire obstacle at our next trial.

Now that you have that settled, it's time to go earn some more legs.

I got the confirmation back from the trial I just entered, and the jump height was listed as 24". All I could think was, "Will this height issue NEVER end?" I quickly emailed the trial secretary, and within 5 minutes, got a reply with an apology and a corrected confirmation. Wow, that is fast service. Now, we just have to keep training.
