Talking Dayzee is her Class Star

The first week in Dayzee's obedience class she walked around acting like she didnt know anything. But after that she has been a pro. Found out don't feed her right before she goes. LOL. Anyway last night she outlasted and beat out all the other pups. They did lay and stay and she was to stay for 45 seconds, well she stayed and stayed and stayed. She would have stayed there all night if I let her.

The only problem is when I try to get her up, she just wants to keep staying. Any hints to get her a little more pepped up.

So far she is far more advanced her teacher said, but she lacks the umph. If we were outside it would be different as she has a different personality outside. But we are in Iowa and it is freezing cold. She does well but doesn't act peppy about it.

to get her to be more interested in training........make it more fun.
while at training class...i always have a pair of jeans on that has a back pocket where i can shove a toy. when we aren't "working"....out comes the toy and we play tug. then when it's our turn to "work" again...the toy goes back in the pocket.
i also taught moby to "speak". before working with him...I ask him to speak a few times and that gets him up and happy and his ears up on top of his head...looking for our next move.
training needs to be fun for the dog to be willing to work with you. try toys...a higher pitched voice, LOTS AND LOTS OF PRAISE, teach your dog to speak on command. do whatever your dog thinks is fun. having fun is the key. otherwise your dog will just muddle through and not enjoy learning.

Our boxers really like to high five...so I've found out if he is distracted or bored a quick couple of high fives and a whole lot of "good boys" with petting and a high pitched voice make him eager to see what we are going to do next.
