Of the two different instructors I have been to, they both like to start them early. A basic agility class gives them time to adjust to the equipment. My brother enrolled his four month old boxer puppy in agility the same time I started Myles. Myles was about a year and a half. Maggie was much more willing and less afraid to get on the equipment. I spent almost two months every day trying to get Myles to go through the tunnel, he was terrified of it. Hard work pays off, as he goes through them now effortlessly. It's so much fun. I say if the instructor will allow your dog in the class go for it! Lastly, in the basic classes the equipment is low and young puppies shouldn't be doing high jumps.

You can start training some things but they shouldn't do a lot of jumping until they are 18 months.
