Oh good gravy no!!! Clearly the caffeine had worn off. Indy's here forever whether he wants to be or no. I posted for Mr. Duke, crossing my fingers and saying my prayers.

Possible home for Duke!!!!

A friend has a neighbor who is interested in another boxer. They have a sweet little peanut of a girl, named Daisy and have been talking about getting her a brother...hopefully named Duke! Love that!

Duke and I went out to meet them today. They are an amazing family. Duke and Daisy got along great. He was sweet and gentle with their two young children. I couldn't believe it when Duke almost immediately walked away from me and over to the other mom. Without even looking at me! Never happens! He listened well to both of the adults and never once looked at me for guidance. Played with their Daisy and generally had a great time.

He was relaxed and happy. Color me surprised but very grateful. This is a warm, wonderful family. I am thrilled. When I got home I already had an email from the lady of the house, wanting to know when they could see Duke again as she said they fell in love with him immediately.

The next visit I will likely drop him for a few hours and the return later to see how he does with them when I am not around. This family is very open to transitioning him at a comfortable pace for him. The only downside is that they live almost an hour away. But, it's worth it to me to drive a bit to find the right home, and I really think we may have found it.

I'll keep you updated, I'm hopeful and happy for Duke. I already miss him as I'm about 95% sure this is the right home for him. But I couldn't be happier about the love and balanced behavior I see in that home. If Duke goes to live with them, he will be well loved and well taken care of. Perfect for all.

Indy's mom, you are just an amazing person for caring for Duke and helping him find a perfect forever home. Your husband is a great guy as well to allow and even encourage your fostering of Duke. I hope this family and their girl are the place for him it sounds like a good fit.

Match made in heaven!

Duke went and spent all day with his new family today. I swear this is the family he has been waiting to go live with. They are truly a match made in heaven.

I dropped him off, Mrs. said that he checked the front window a couple of times to see if I was out there, but that was it. He just went back to playing with Daisy and the family. He hung out with Mr. for part of the football game, walked with the little boy and completely won over a little girl down the block who used to be terrified of dogs. She's not anymore, she has now been charmed by the big, sweet Duke.

He will go back on Tuesday. This time he will stay overnight and if all is still as well as it was today and yesterday, he will stay there for good. Originally I intended for this transition to take longer, but truthfully at this point I think it might be cruel to him and them to stretch it out. He acts happier, livelier and just more boxer-like there than I've ever seen him.

No doubt I'll miss the sweet boy, but this looks like it will be a happy ending better than anything I've ever read in a book. Life is good and getting better for this very deserving dog. Nice!

This sounds so promising and just lovely. I'm sure that you are correct and that this is the home that has been waiting on Duke. Sending lots of special vibes to all of you. Sure hope that this is his forever home.

WHOO HOO! Sounds like Duke found his perfect home! And to be so lovingly welcomed, how could he not move right in!

I am so happy for him and hope it works out. And an hour away won't seem to far when you miss him and want to visit. Hopefully, that will be an option. He will miss you just as much as you him. He will just know where he belongs and will be all the happier for being wherever it is.
