Re: I need To Find A New Home For Fletcher
Well, I had a very long discussion last night with dh. He claims not to have known how much stress I have been under. He said that I never say no and just keeping on things even when I know that I can't phsyically do any more. He also said that I am notorious for not asking for help and I have to admit - he's right. He also said that he forbids me to rehome Fletcher because sick or not - I'd never get over it. He's right again. So he had a long talk with my 8 and 9 year old boys and they will be doing poop duty and brush duty as well as feeding and watering. It may not sound like much but it is a big help. Also dh asked the neighbor kid who's 14 if he'd like to make $30 a week walking Fletcher a few miles a day and the kid jumped at it. So that should help tire the little booger out. Today dh went to the hardware store and bought some new locks for Fletcher's crate that he swears he can't get out of because he'd need fingers and the key So unfortunately for Fletcher he no longer gets reign of the house when we're gone for his own safety and my sanity. I still can't understand why all of a sudden he developed these habits when he's honestly been impeccably behaved for 9 months alone when we're gone. It can't be from an absence of toys because after the garbage incident I swear to you we spent a cool $100 on toys for him and he has been getting walked just not for miles a day because I get dizzy really quickly. I wonder if it has anything to do with me being home all day now and usually when I do go somewhere it's to the grocery or post office and he's been coming to all those places. So maybe he was pissed that he didn't get to go yesterday. I really wish I could get inside his head Dh also promised to help more around the house and to do all the laundry so I don't have to do the stairs - again dizzy is no good for stairs - especially when I'm home alone with a one year old - if anything where to happen he'd be unattended I have to apologize for my rant, but I didn't know where else to turn. Dh nearly fell over when I told him I had asked if anyone would like to adopt Fletcher. He said "first off you probably wouldn't even be here if it weren't for him and second of he isn't just a dog he's a part of the family and he stays no matter what. You know you don't mean it - your just overtired and frustrated. We'll fix it." I guess if I don't ask for help I can't expect anyone to know I need it right? So I'll keep you all updated on the progress of this new plan, the boy from next door starts tomorrow and hopefully this will take a load off for me. Thanks all for being such wonderful friends and for caring so much about Fletcher and I. We truly appreciate it

Re: I need To Find A New Home For Fletcher
Wow, I am so happy for you and Fletcher. You are going to get some extra help and Fletcher gets to stay where he belongs - with his family who love him so much. You were the one who rescued him and he will never forget that. You are an angel in disquise. You know sometimes we just try to do too much ourselves when if we only ask we'd find out that's all we needed to do. You are so fragile right now being sick and with 4 kids must drain you completely. But help is on the way and that was a great idea your husband had getting the teenager next door taking Fletcher for walks. Sounds like you have a wonderful family who love you and Fletcher very much. Take real good care of yourself and I will put you on my prayer list. God Bless.

I'm so happy for you, us women do sometimes need to ask for help, it gets taken for granted that we can do it all when sometimes for whatever reason we just can't

Kristy I am so glad you have sorted things out I looked up what you have and it seems in time you will back to normal. So If everyone pulls you through this hard time you will be so happy Fletcher will still be there to love you. I am sure he is acting up because he has picked up on the emotions and when things start getting back to normal so will he. If you need to talk we are here!!!

I'm hoping so Roma but things haven't been going so well. My diagnosis has gone from moderate to severe and it looks as though I may need a bone marrow transplant. My family will all need to be tested for a match and if that doesn't pan out, I'd have to be added to a national transplant list and my understanding is that not only is that list quite long but the chance of a non famialial donor matching is rare. So normal is a long shot but it sounds good

Re: I need To Find A New Home For Fletcher
I'm so sorry to hear about the severity of your medical issue You have a lot of family so I'll be praying that one of them is a match if it comes to that.
On the up side, I'm so glad you talked to your dh and are going to make it work with Fletcher He's truly your hero dog and I just knew you had to be in dire straits to even be thinking of rehoming him. He's going to love getting long walks from the neighbor With everyone pitching in, the stress is bound to lessen. Good luck Kristy!

Re: I need To Find A New Home For Fletcher
I just caught this tread (trying to break my BW addiction). First off, Kristy, I am sorry to hear that your illness is so severe. I hope you start feeling better soon.
Secondly, I am happy to hear you are able to keep your hero.
Lastly, as I was reading the posts I was thinking that maybe you could train him to help you with some stuff. You may have to hire the help of an expert trainer, but its kind of a cool idea. It would give him a job, and I am sure he'd be really proud of himself for helping you. He probably can clean the carpets for you, but maybe he can get you the phone or a soda from the fridge....
