Wow! When I brought my first puppy home she was 3 months old and must have spent a ton of time her crate leading up to her move to my house (yep I was a sucker for a BYB) She probably had gone more in the crate than anywhere else and had to live with it until it was cleaned up. She didn’t seem to mind it at all. Kendall my 2nd boxer (another byb before I was smarter about it) spent most of her time out side. She only went in the crate 1 time when she was 6 years old. She got in the trash can and had explosive diarrhea. So I don’t think making them sit with it will do any good, and from my experience with Keagen I would say exactly the opposite.
What has worked for me is just staying on top of them until they understand that they need to go outside. When we got Austin I would set the kitchen timer so I would not let him go for too long and create an accident.
