First of all, AKC is only a registration service. Being AKC parents provides no warranties or guarantees for anything, most certainly not health problems.

The recommended choice is to stay the course. Your girlfiend is the crazy one....not you. You can ask both breeders to provide you documented evidence of health testing and their results. Whoever can provide you this information is clearly the better choice.
