Finally, Aubie is home
Yep he is home. He is so sweet and such a little cuddler. Things did not go too well with Toni though. I think she looks at him as a moving squeaky toy. I let her sniff him and she was very excited. Then I sat down with him in my lap and let her come part way up and sniff him. She sniffed and sniffed while he licked her face. Then she decided to crawl up on my lap too, practically squishing the puppy. I had her get down and lay down and then I put Aubie in front of her. She jumped up, straddled him and started bumping him around. She ended up turning him upside down before I could get him. I had to put her outside, which actually she seemed fine with. Later when the BF got there I put her on leash and brought her back in to see him. She just got so excited. She was not agressive, so to speak, no barking and growling. Her tail was wagging fifty miles an hour the whole time.
We put him is his crate and played with her for a while then she wanted back out.
When bedtime came we decided that we would put her in the master bath. I put her bed in there, her peanut butter and pig's ear plus a couple of her favorite toys put up the baby gate and Aubie and I went to bed. Well it was so sad because she just cried and cried. I got up several times with her and hugged and kissed her and talked to her but the minute I would lay back down she would cry again. I finally had to shut the bathroom door. After a couple of minutes she quieted and went to sleep. She ate her peanut butter but not her pig's ear.
Aubie slept ALL night. I was woke up this morning at 4:55 being licked by a little bitty tongue. I was so surprised because I went to bed with the mind set that I would be up at least 3 or 4 times in the night. I took him out and he peed a river. I was beginning to think I should have worn boots.
When we finally got up at 6:15 he went in his crate and Toni came in. She was crazy. When it was breakfast time we fed Aubie in his crate and let Toni eat in the kitchen. She was too funny. She'd take a bite and run to the crate to check on Aubie. Then run back for another bite. She got mommy's cereal milk as always and Aubie got none so I think that may have appeased her a little. Every time she would go to the crate Aubie would crawl up the side of the crate trying to get to her. So hopefully once she calms down a little they can play with supervision. She is 59 pounds, he is 10 pounds, so the size difference will be a big concern for a few months. The way he eats though, I believe he will catch up pretty quick. He consumes his food like it is his last meal and he needs to eat it quick. He is going to the vet in the morning and I am going to have him checked over thoroughly and ask some direction in allowing the two to play. If anyone out there reading this book has any suggestions, pile them on.
