That's actually what I do and it works pretty well. I wake up, take Kashmir outside, feed her, play with her or let her play by herself, and then I crate her. I go take my shower, prepare my lunch, etc, so she sees me around and doesn't think she's being abandoned... then I leave. She goes in by herself and she barely cries anymore. Try that out! Also try not to give your pup too much affection right before you leave, stay close to her so she can see you but ignore her for a bit.
