talk about draconian law...
hey! thanks for letting me vent.
here below is an excerpt from the English version of China Daily (national newspaper)
***
Anti-walkies measure
LOCAL police are to slap a ban on walking pet dogs on streets and other public places, which means that dogs cannot go outdoors any more. Police said that each household is permitted to raise only one dog. After registration, the dog's owner should hang a symbol on his door which is made and issued by the police. If raisers violate the rule, the dog will be confiscated together with a fine from 200 yuan ($24) to 1,000 yuan ($120). Police said that many dog bites happened when the dog was walked. In addition, dog excrement in public is a kind of pollution.

as far as walking the dog and letting him do his business...i have no idea what other dog owners are going to do now.
actually, there are some people who still walk their dogs but really really late at night or super early in the morning because policeman usually aren't around. it even sounds silly for me to say it!
it's actually a very draconian law in my opinion...to go to such extremes as to ban dog walking altogether! at least they could have passed a law requiring everyone to clean up after their dogs (like in the states) or if we need to get extreme, i'd rather train Kobe to wear a nylon muzzle while out on the street -- NOT to prevent him from biting people but more because there are some enterprising people on the street who try to accuse your dog of biting them so they can sue you! At least with a muzzle, no one can say anything.
we also raise more eyebrows because Kobe at three months is already bigger than most of these little tiny pekingnese and shi tzu's that are so popular here...status doggies is what we call them.
oh well...
on a completely separate matter -- can anyone identify off the top of their head what this skin problem kobe has is.
when we bought him at 8 weeks, he had this round little bald spot on his right paw. in the middle it was all pink and looked like a scab or some kind of bad skin wound. of course, we ended up taking him anyways since the vet at the pet store said it was a minor thing he got while in his little cage at the pet store.
ok, one month later, his fur has grown back in this little bald spot -- but there's a little bald ring around that spot. i can't explain it better than that. then the other day, it looked like his paw got inflamed again and that this stuff is spreading on his paw so actually, he's now bald in a wider area on this paw than before. it's also red.
he plays rough around the house, but not that rought. and he doesn't really bite his own paws or anything. i'm wondering if it can be some kind of skin infection that won't go away?
if you can point me to the right direction, i'd very much appreciate it. our vet only speaks chinese and my chinese isn't too good. i can't wait until next week when the new australian vet comes into town. until then let me know if you have any idea what it could be!
thanks!
