I've had the testing done on two different pets (dog and cat). With the cat we went ahead and tried the shots for a while but to be honest it didn't do anything to help him. We agreed as a last resort since the allergies (symptoms) were so bad that the use of prednisone was getting out of control. We lost him due to a cancer that is known to be a complication from long term steroid use.
My first Boxer was tested and shots were recommended. We declined and used the results to help us to eliminate as many allergens as was possible for her. That was far more beneficial than the shots had been in the past with my cat.
All that being said....she was later diagnosed with thyroid issues and once treatment for that was underway the allergy symptoms were pretty much a moot point. Allergies and thyroid often goes hand in hand and did in her case.
