I was just thinking that if all comes to all and the vets fees are really OTT maybe you could contact dogs trust they might be able to help out or if you live near Dublin might let you use their vet at a keen price seeing thats its a rescue that your dealing with.you can get contact details from their web site dogs trust.ie.
