Hmmm. Very interesting. Thank you all for your replies. I never would have thought that specific breeds or coat colours could have that type of an impact on another dog, but I guess I was wrong. I know my dogs didn't do anything to illicit that type of behaviour from the other dog, but it is nice to hear it from others. I know how rambunctious Boxers can be and how much they like to roughhouse during play, but they were both really well behaved, kept all four paws on the ground, and refrained from "boxing" with this other dog. And poor Sarge wasn't anywhere near this dog when it went after him twice. I have never seen this dog interact with other dogs before, but the owner mentioned something about the dog playing well with other dogs, so we gave it a shot. No harm was done and, as several of you have mentioned, we can cross that dog off of the playmate list.

I learned something new today from reading your responses. This now begs the obvious question: Now that my dogs have had a minor scrum with this dog, will they have issues with similar looking dogs in the future? I'll definitely have to be mindful of it after reading about your experiences. Thanks again.
