Have you tried Skype on your TV? I would like to be able to (video)talk to my parents through the TV.
I took a look at your TV. Quite impressive, even the remote control

Oh excellent, I'm glad there's still time and you can take advantage of the Cnet reviews.
I haven't tried Skype on the TV, but I don't see why it shouldn't be super easy to do... Since we have the Mac Mini hooked up to the TV, we basically use the TV as the monitor. We surf the web on it all the time, play Pandora radio, etc. You could have a web cam handy and only plug it in when you want to talk to your parents, OR you could get a wireless cam and set it up strategically so you don't have to move it or drag it out every time.
If you want to look at some newer technology, I know that Plex is built-in standard in some LG TVs now. Would be worth looking to see if Skype (or something similar) is too. That way you wouldn't need the computer. Although honestly, with the Mini hooked up to the TV, the possibilities are endless! -- We use it to play DVDs (replaced DVD player), play games (replaced PS3), surf the web, etc... And the Mini is so small and sleek, it takes no room whatsoever in our media cabinet.
Oh, and don't get me started with the remote! If you go for our setup, then a Harmony remote is a must:
